From the sculpture Antlers (1928) by John Raedecker the existing viewline to the Franse Berg (French Hill) has been continued / intensified by steps going in a straight line up the hill until they rise above the crowns of the trees: breathtaking view over the surrounding landscape.
By following the steps one can have a physical experience of the French Hill, the highest point of the Hoge Veluwe, and through the senses.
At first concrete steps are laid in the sand in a straight line up the hill. From there they change into straight wooden stairs which gradually rise above the crowns of the trees (climax).
The wooden stairs are made of recycled hardwood (bazralocus) from the Dutch coastal defense.
Length of the walk from the sculpture "Antlers" until the tree tops : 250 metres. The stairs are 80 metres long and can be extended can grow with the trees. The steps are 2,40 metres wide.
