Velizy-Villacoublay est une ville proche de Paris qui a été un des berceaux de l'aviation à ses débuts. Pour symboliser cette vocation, une sculpture représentant un Icare volant a été suspendue au dessus de la place de l'ancienne mairie réaménagée avec une composition dallée en grés polychrome.Sculpture réalisée en acier inox. Envergure : 3 m., longueur : 2,80 m. Surface de la place : 1.500 m2 environ. Architectes : Y. Jankovic et M. Laera.

Velizy-Villacoublay is a town close to Paris, which was one of the birthplaces of aviation. To symbolise this calling, a sculpture representing a flying Icarus was suspended above the square in front of the former Mairie, which has been resurfaced with a composition made out of polychrome tiles.
