Architecte : R. Auzelle.

These three sculptures in concrete stand at the entrance to the cemetery at Joncherolles in the northern suburbs of Paris (architects: Robert Auzelle). They represent the Parcae, figures of Roman mythology, who were supposed to be the three goddesses of Fate: Lachesis alloted to man his life span, Clotho spun the thread of his existence, and Atropos broke that thread. The figures stand 4 m. high and each weighs more than 6 tonnes. They were cast in carved polystyrene moulds and have a smooth concrete finish.
