Elisabeth BALLET, Travelling (2004). Unitec Roundabout in Pessac , Bordeaux (France)

Photo : 1 2 This work by Elisabeth Ballet is located on a roundabout crossed by a tramway. The crown, made up of cut-out metallic letters, is a palindrome in latin: “sole medere pede ede perede melos” which translates into: “alone, heal yourself with poetry, compose and recompose your songs.” A palindrome is a text which can be read from left to right as well as from right to left. It can therefore be seen and understood just the same by a tram passenger going to or returning from work. |
