Continuum 2009 est un hommage à l’artiste québécois Pierre Perrault, aussi poète, dramaturge et réalisateur pour la radio, qui est considéré comme l’un des plus grands cinéastes québécois.
Placée en axe avec le Saint-Laurent et les sentiers du parc de la Promenade-Bellerive, la sculpture en acier Corten s’offre autant au paysage naturel qui l’entoure qu’aux promeneurs qui peuvent l’encercler, la contempler ou la traverser. Elle propose un Continuum qui vainc le passage du temps par la mémoire, celle de l’homme, de son œuvre et du monument.
La relation sensible entre le corps et l’espace est une préoccupation commune au cinéaste et au sculpteur. La sculpture est un objet culturel qui cadre l’espace naturel; il est une caméra qui oriente le regard et favorise des points de vue. Comme dans Les voitures d’eau de Perrault, l’œuvre est une mise en scène du fleuve.

Continuum 2009 is a tribute to the Quebec artist, poet, playwright and radio producer Pierre Perrault, who is considered one of Quebec’s major filmmakers.

The Corten steel sculpture is lined up with the St Lawrence River and the pathways of Parc de la Promenade-Bellerive, and is an offering to both the natural environment surrounding it and passersby who can walk around it, contemplate it and even step through it. The work proposes a "Continuum" that conquers the passage of time through memory, that of the man, his work and the monument.

The sensitive relationship between the body and space is a concern shared by both the filmmaker and the sculptor. This sculpture is a cultural object that frames the landscape, it is like a camera that directs the gaze and creates viewpoints. Like in Perrault’s Les voitures d’eau, the work is a presentation of the St. Lawrence River.
