This is a temporary installation built in May 2001 in Zeeswolde, Holland.
Krijn Giezen addresses the problem, unique to Holland, of the spontaneous raising of the sea level, and tries to find a practical solution.
Richard Serra’s sculpture “sea level” located in Zeewolde, is no longer visually in alignment with the actual sea level. Krijn Giezen’s focuses on the opportunity of the change in level. In his proposal for “Amphibian residence” he incorporates into his concept both what happens as the water goes up, and the resulting shrinking of the land.
He hopes that his project will be built by a civil engineering team with their own materials.
